Hello Mr. Yee! My students are currently reading "Mrs. Brown Went to Town," and they are enjoying every page of it. The reading skill we are currently working on is: Questioning the Author. My students came up with a list of questions they would like to ask you. It will be an awesome and authentic experience for them to receive a reply from the actual author of the story they are currently reading. These are some of the questions they had:
1. Why did you pick the last name of "Brown" for the lady?
2. Is Mrs. Brown riding a bike because you like to ride a bike too?
3. Why did the bunny or the picture of the bunny kept showing up in the story?
4. When Mrs. Brown and the animals crashed through the floor, she had a bandage on her right leg, but when she and the animals were in the hospital, the bandage was on her left leg. Did you make a mistake? I thought the dog bit her right leg.
5. What happened to the mouse? Where does the mouse live?
You can reply on the blog or by email at mweakly@wcpss.net. Thank you in advance for your time and thoughts.

Hi Ms. Weakly and 2nd Graders!
A great skill to work on for reading and everything else in life. You'll never know if you don't ask. This is especially suitable with what my initials spell. Here we go . . .

1. Just wanted something simple and liked how Brown rhymes with town.

2. Definitely! high fives for anyone who rides their bike to school.

3. My daughter is very fond of bunnies so you'll usually find them in my books.

4. A boo-boo by me. You guys caught something my editor and art director didn't.

5. This is an inside joke. If you read my first book EEK! There's a Mouse in the House, you'll see why.

Great questions!
Keep reading and writing!
