After the accident, Mia Juarez and her son move out of
Detroit to Oakdale. She waits until after the holidays to
enroll CJ in his new school. Hopefully, this’ll give them
both a chance for a fresh start.
CJ overhears four classmates talking about a skateboard
competition. He thinks if he gets one for his eleventh
birthday it might be a way to make new friends.
Charlie Hunter has no luck as a hunter. He tries fishing
instead. He awakes to the sound of eggs cracking. It turns out
he pitched his tent next to a duck’s nest. The five hatchlings
follow him wherever he goes thinking he’s their mama.
While CJ practices on his longboard in the street, his
neighbor nearly backs into him. Rather than ask if the boy
is okay, the CPA wonders if he can babysit his ducks.
CJ sees one of the ducks he’s taking care of on his
skateboard. It gives him an idea that just might give the
Lobos the edge they need to win the competition.
